The Thermo Scientific Nicolet™ Summit™ X FTIR is a Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer designed for the identification, characterization, and quantification of chemical compounds through the analysis of molecular vibrations. FTIR spectroscopy provides a unique spectral "fingerprint" for each substance, enabling the rapid identification of organic and inorganic materials, as well as the assessment of their chemical composition, purity, and structural changes.

The instrument incorporates the LightDrive™ Optical Engine, an optical system developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific that combines a stable infrared source, a high-precision interferometer, and a reference laser, ensuring highly reproducible spectra, excellent stability, and reduced maintenance requirements. The system is designed for intensive use in research, teaching, and quality control laboratories.

The Nicolet™ Summit™ X is compatible with a wide range of accessories, including the ATR (Attenuated Total Reflectance) crystal, which enables the direct analysis of solids, liquids, powders, films, and pastes without the need for complex sample preparation. Depending on the installed configuration, additional accessories can be used for transmission measurements, Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform spectroscopy (DRIFT), specular reflectance, FTIR microscopy, and gas cells, making the instrument highly versatile.

Data acquisition and processing are performed through the OMNIC™ Paradigm software, which provides tools for automated spectral acquisition, spectral library searching, sample comparison, quantitative analysis, customized workflow creation, and automatic report generation.

The Nicolet™ Summit™ X is an essential tool for the rapid identification of materials, the investigation of new compounds, industrial quality control, and the chemical characterization of environmental, biological, and material samples.
